The National Burial Index for England and Wales is being co-ordinated by the Federation of Family History Societies. The aim is to provide an index of burial entries recorded in English and Welsh parish, nonconformist, Roman Catholic and cemetery registers.
Cardiganshire Family History Society has already contributed over 108,000 entries to the project when the 2nd edition of the CD was published in 2004, covering burial entries for Cardiganshire up to and including 1920.
The 3rd edition of the NBI Index is to be published later this year and the Society has contributed thousands more entries from 1921 onwards.
The Society has been working with findmypast.co.uk in transcribing parts of the 1851 census of Cardiganshire. We were given piece no. HO107/2481 to transcribe, which included many parishes in North Pembrokeshire. The following parishes were transcribed by the Society and will eventually appear on the findmypast website.
